That pretty much describes the status of an entire industry--the makers of products containing cannabidiol, or CBD. The compound, added to everything from skin cream to ice cream, can be derived from hemp or marijuana and has been touted as a treatment for ailments ranging from anxiety to cancer. The catch: "It's still in a legal gray area," says Bethany Gomez, director of research for Brightfield Group, which studies the cannabis and CBD industries.
Again, this business opportunity claims to be an affiliate model, but as you can see from the prices above, the fact that you must recruit others to your “team,” and the fact that you must buy a product from the company before you can ever earn any money from them, it’s easy to see that this is in fact an MLM business model rather than an affiliate one.
I also needed to know about the HempWorx management and marketing presentation - were they quality people with a quality message or were they cheesy and sleazy? I was surprised to find out that the Founders of HempWorx are a young couple, Jenna and Josh Zwagil (photo right). The company was born out of Jenn’s and her son’s medical needs after trying a CBD Oil product. After watching many videos and talking to other affiliates, I learned that Jenn and Josh are pretty straightforward, no B.S. people who care about making a difference in people’s health and wealth. The way they present the product is the same - nothing flashy or sleazy - just straight facts about the products and industry with a quality hands on approach.

Very confused why my bottle does not have a batch number on it so that i can look up the certificate of testing? the person who sold me it said i could check lab testing and i can’t. this is false advertising. doesn’t seem right. on further looking it is an MLM company which makes you think how much the product is really worth if you are paying all the people at different levels. you pay the person who sold it to you and the people above them in the triangle. would rather not. i’m in scotland and over here cbd is now available lots of places. the high street versions aren’t very good. but i don’t want to support an mlm like this so I keep looking. i was drawn in by someone on facebook selling so be aware and be careful!
The Hemp Industries Association (HIA) reported total U.S. retail sales of hemp products of nearly $700 million in 2016. HIA claims that U.S. hemp retail sales have grown by about 10% to more than 20% annually since 2011. Mostly, this growth is attributable to sales of hemp-based care products, supplements, and foods. Together, these categories accounted for more than two-thirds of the value of U.S. retail sales in 2016.
To date the FDA has only approved one drug containing CBD and that was only after it was shown to meet rigorous scientific standards. Last November, the FDA shipped warning letters to four CBD companies for making unproven health claims. Last summer, Josh Zwagil warned distributors to avoid using words like “cures,” “prevents,” and “treats” in the marketing of HempWorx products because regulators like the FDA are keeping close watch, the Canadian Broadcasting Company reported. Clearly, that message was not received by all distributors. (See more on the legal issue in the last section of this article.)
CBD is one of over 60 compounds found in cannabis that belong to a class of ingredients called cannabinoids. Until recently, THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) was getting most of the attention because it’s the ingredient in cannabis that produces mind-altering effects in users, but CBD is also present in high concentrations — and the medical world is realizing that its list of medical benefits continues to grow.
Eating chocolate, interestingly enough, is not the only common experience associated with the cannabinoid system. A study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences in 2015 found that increased levels of oxytocin—a.k.a. “the love hormone” that enhances the bond between lovers—prompts the release of anandamide, which then acts on the cannabinoid receptors. This means the cannabinoid system also plays a role in the “love experience.”
That’s important to farmers like Meyer, and to consumers. When a plant contains 0.3 percent or less THC, the federal government considers it “industrial hemp,” and by Colorado’s and most states’ reckoning, can legally be formulated into oils, tinctures, topicals, and capsules, and widely sold to consumers. But if a plant has THC levels above 0.3 percent, the federal government considers it marijuana, and even states where it is legal sharply limit where the products can be sold.
With the federal government's full legalization of hemp, a previously marginalized industry is opening for free interstate commerce. What does that mean for entrepreneurs looking to get into the space, as well as those who could benefit from a wider availability of hemp-derived products? Here's a brief look at hemp's history in the U.S., as well as what its newly legalized status means for small businesses.
Hemp products sold in stores are most often made with hemp seed oil, which can contain only trace amounts of CBD. While it has been noted that hemp seed oil can be a great source of nutrition, its marginal quantity of CBD per weight makes it unfeasible as a CBD supplement. Our CBD hemp oil, however, is extracted from the stalk of specifically selected hemp cultivars, offering higher percentages of CBD by weight and additional nutritional benefits from the contents of our oil.
5) Support – Starting and running any business can be very challenging and support in your efforts can be invaluable to help you get going, develop and implement a marketing plan and stay motivated and consistent. With other cannabis businesses you have to develop that support team with a great deal of time, thought and effort. When you become a HempWorx affiliate, you have a support team already set up for you from Day 1 – a customer service team that takes your orders and ships your product to your customers while also handling customer service after the sale as well. You also get your own success coach (Ken Higgins) that is with you in business every step of the way.

On the third bottle, I came across a newspaper article that said CBD was illegal in the state of New Jersey without a valid prescription. I tried to tell the "reps" that and again with their rhetoric that is WAS legal and the newspaper was wrong. I did some research on my own and found out it is truly illegal in New Jersey without a valid prescription. The only way these charlatans get away with it, is that they break federal law and mail this stuff state to state without detection. Although there have been instances of the oil being discovered at the Post Office and confiscated. Also, people who have had this stuff on their person, have been arrested. Again the "reps" Tara and Paul swear up and down it's legal. This is a lie to part you from your money.

And those choices are soon likely to become even more confusing: The CBD market is expected to multiply at least sevenfold by 2021, to $2.15 billion, up from $292 million in 2016, according to the Brightfield Group, a market research firm that specializes in cannabis. Even Coca-Cola says it’s “closely watching” the growing interest in CBD and its potential as an ingredient in some of the company’s beverages.
These statements have not been evaluated by the FDA and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. Most work-place drug screens and tests target delta9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and do not detect the presence of Cannabidiol (CBD) or other legal natural hemp based constituents. Even though our products contain less than .3% THC by dry weight (Federal Legal Limit), studies have shown that ingesting Full Spectrum CBD can cause confirmed positive results when screening urine and blood specimens. Accordingly, if you are subject to any form of employment drug testing or screening, we recommend (as does the United States Armed Services) that you DO NOT take our products. Before taking our products, consult with your healthcare practitioner, drug screening testing company or employer. This website requires you to also be at least 18 years or older to purchase our products.
It is important that CBD is actually dry during processing and added to hemp oil as a natural carrier. This process allows us to maintain the FDA and legal standard guidelines. Our competitors typically will use coconut oil, palm oil or a non-relative carrier for dried CBD. Do not be confused by the carrier of hemp oil. Other competitors disregard the legal standard and you get unregulated, high amounts of THC in your product. With Hemp Worx you get the benefits of CBD without the downside of THC and remain compliant. All of our CBD is grown in Kentucky and tested in an FDA approved facility
No it isn’t. It is a genuine good quality product sold to customers who willingly buy it.  The products are sold through multi-level marketing. Companies including Rodan & Fields, Avon, Doterra, and Advocare use the same sales strategy. Every sale is credited to an affiliate who gets a commission for the sale. Affiliates also get paid to recruit new affiliates to sell the product. Though MLM business model can be contentious and the genuineness of testimonials product sellers can be questioned, it doesn’t make it a scam. We did another review on a similar company here.

As a result, customers can now be confident that most companies out there are pretty legitimate in terms of the overall safety of their products. However, you should still keep your eyes peeled and do as much research as possible, as a lot of brands are still selling non-therapeutic hemp seed oils as “CBD oils,” when in fact they contain very little of the active compound at all.
